IFS Posts Solid Results and Sees a Promising Outlook for Peru
Lima, August 12, 2026.— Intercorp Financial Services (NYSE: IFS), the financial holding company comprising Interbank, Inteligo, Interseguro and Izipay, closed the second quarter of 2026 with net income of S/585 million. First-half net income reached S/1,187 million, up 16% from the same period last year.
"Our first-half results reflect the strength of our businesses and our ability to grow profitably. Our strategy remains customer-focused and centered on sustained investment in digital channels, data analytics, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence," said Luis Felipe Castellanos, CEO of IFS.
The holding company's performance comes amid a recovery in consumer and business confidence in Peru, which has been boosting economic activity, private investment and consumption in the country.
"We continue to see solid fundamentals for the country's growth: private investment continues to grow at a robust pace. This allows us to maintain a positive outlook on Peru, and we expect the economy to grow by more than 3% over the next two years, maintaining its leadership in the region, even considering challenges such as the potential impact of El Niño. We see a more constructive environment for credit growth," added Castellanos.
Results Driven by Growth Across the Businesses
Interbank posted a strong quarter, bolstered by increased demand for financing. Consumer and small business loans grew 9% and 31% year over year, respectively, driven by higher activity among households and businesses. Its retail primary banking customer base grew 16% year over year, while Plin consolidated its presence in the daily lives of millions of Peruvians, recording a 45% increase in monthly transactions compared to a year ago.
Interseguro maintained strong momentum in long-term insurance, with premiums up 9% year over year, driven primarily by annuities and individual life insurance. Inteligo, in turn, reached a record high of nearly US$10 billion in assets under management, up 14% year over year.
"We continue to deliver solid profitability, driven by growth in strategic segments, sound risk management and the strengthening of our customer relationships," said Michela Casassa, CFO of IFS.
Preparing for El Niño
Regarding the potential impact of El Niño on the Peruvian economy and IFS's businesses, Casassa explained that the company is monitoring its portfolio by segment, sector and geographic area, and is maintaining close contact with the most exposed clients, particularly in agriculture and fishing.
"The approach is preventive: anticipating risks, staying close to clients and acting promptly. We have already weathered other El Niño episodes and have a plan that allows us to respond quickly and support them with facilities tailored to their needs, such as working capital, grace periods or loan restructurings," Casassa noted.
Financial Inclusion and Sustainability
IFS continues to promote initiatives that contribute to the country's economic and social development. Through Interbank Negocios, more than 194,000 Peruvian companies use digital tools to collect payments, administer their operations and drive their growth.
As part of its commitment to inclusion, the bank also announced, together with the Peruvian Banking Association (Asbanc), the creation of "Finanzas para Mujeres: Una guía para decidir mejor tu futuro" (Finance for Women: A Guide to Making Better Decisions About Your Future), a free, online financial education program aimed at building skills and promoting better financial decision-making among Peruvian women.
In addition, IFS companies were recognized in the Great Place to Work® Diversity, Equity & Inclusion 2026 ranking, where Interbank took first place in its category.
